Terms & Conditions

These terms apply to everyone who uses craftymarket.co.za. Crafty Market is a curated online marketplace: the products you buy here are made and supplied by independent South African sellers who trade through our platform. Please read these terms before placing an order.

1. Who we are

Crafty Market operates an online marketplace based in Cape Town, South Africa. We provide the website, the shopping basket, the checkout, the payment handover to our payment provider, and the tools sellers use to manage their shops and orders.

We do not make the products listed on the marketplace. Each product is supplied by an independent seller who is responsible for that product, its description, its stock, its price and its delivery.

2. Use of the website

By using this website you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site. You may browse, search and buy for your own lawful, personal use.

3. Customer accounts

You may create an account to save a wishlist, store delivery addresses and view your order history. You are responsible for keeping your login details private and for activity that takes place under your account. Tell us immediately if you believe someone else has access to it.

4. Guest checkout

You do not need an account to buy from Crafty Market. If you check out as a guest, your order is linked to the email address you provide and is accessible through the secure order link we send you. Keep that link private — anyone who has it can view the order.

5. Purchasing products

When you place an order you are making an offer to buy the items in your basket from the seller or sellers concerned, at the prices shown at checkout.

6. Product availability

Products are handmade or sourced in small quantities and stock levels can change quickly. Availability is checked when you check out, but if an item becomes unavailable after you have paid, the seller or Crafty Market will contact you to arrange a replacement or a refund for that item.

7. Product descriptions and images

Product descriptions, photographs and specifications are supplied by the seller. Because items are handmade, small variations in colour, size, grain, finish and texture are normal and are part of the character of the piece. Screen settings can also affect how colours appear.

We review products before they are published, but we cannot guarantee that every detail supplied by a seller is complete or free of error.

8. Pricing

Prices are shown in South African Rand and include VAT where applicable. Delivery is charged separately and is calculated per seller — see our Shipping Policy.

Prices are calculated on our servers at checkout from the seller's current listing. The total shown on the checkout page is the amount you will be asked to pay. If an obvious pricing error occurs, we will contact you before processing the order and you may cancel it for a full refund.

9. Payment

Payments are processed by PayFast, a South African payment provider. You are redirected to PayFast to complete payment and returned to Crafty Market afterwards. Crafty Market does not receive or store your full card details.

An order is only treated as paid once PayFast confirms the payment to us directly. A browser message or a return to our website is not on its own proof of payment.

10. Orders and order acceptance

Your order is accepted once payment is confirmed and you receive an order confirmation email. Until then, no contract of sale exists. We or a seller may decline or cancel an order — for example where an item is out of stock, where a pricing error occurred, where delivery to your address is not possible, or where we reasonably suspect fraud. If an order is cancelled after payment, you will be refunded.

11. Shipping and delivery

Each seller arranges the delivery of their own items. Where your basket contains items from more than one seller, each seller's delivery is charged and dispatched separately, so parcels may arrive at different times. Delivery estimates are provided by sellers and are estimates, not guarantees. Full detail is in our Shipping Policy.

12. Independent sellers

Sellers on Crafty Market are independent businesses. They are not our employees, agents or partners. The contract of sale for a product is between you and the seller of that product. Crafty Market provides the marketplace, handles the checkout and payment handover, and helps coordinate communication between you and the seller.

13. Seller responsibilities

Sellers are responsible for:

  • the accuracy of their product information, images and prices
  • keeping their stock levels current
  • making and supplying their products lawfully and safely
  • packing and dispatching orders within a reasonable time
  • their own delivery arrangements and rates
  • responding to customer queries about their products and orders
  • handling returns, replacements and refunds for their products

Sellers also agree to our Seller Terms.

14. Returns and refunds

Your rights in respect of faulty, damaged, incorrect or undelivered goods are set out in our Returns & Refunds Policy and in South African consumer law. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008 or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 2002.

15. Intellectual property

The Crafty Market name, logo, site design and site content belong to Crafty Market. Product images, product text and shop branding belong to the relevant seller or their licensors. You may not copy, reproduce, scrape or reuse any of this material for commercial purposes without written permission from the owner.

16. Website availability

We aim to keep the site available and working correctly, but we cannot promise uninterrupted access. The site may be unavailable during maintenance, updates, or circumstances outside our control. We may change, suspend or withdraw parts of the site at any time.

17. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Crafty Market is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the site, from a seller's acts or omissions, or from delays outside our control. Because the contract of sale is between you and the seller, claims about a product itself are directed to that seller — we will help you make contact and follow up.

Nothing in this section excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008.

18. Prohibited use

You may not:

  • use the site for any unlawful or fraudulent purpose
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to any account, order, seller shop or system
  • interfere with the operation or security of the site
  • scrape, harvest or bulk-copy content, images or listings
  • impersonate another person, seller or business
  • submit false, misleading or abusive content

19. Privacy

How we handle your personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

20. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version published on this page at the time you place an order is the version that applies to that order. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.

21. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. You can reach us at info@craftymarket.co.za or through our contact page.
