Seller Terms

These terms apply to every independent seller trading through Crafty Market. Crafty Market is a curated marketplace: we provide the storefront, checkout, payment handover and seller tools, and you remain the independent supplier of your own products.

1. Seller eligibility

You may apply to sell if you are 18 or older, are based in South Africa, are able to supply and deliver your products lawfully, and can meet the responsibilities in these terms. You must be entitled to sell the products you list.

2. Application and approval

Crafty Market is curated. Every shop is reviewed before it goes live. Applications may be approved, rejected, or returned to you with a request for changes, and you may update and resubmit an application that has had changes requested. Approval is at Crafty Market's discretion and no application is approved automatically.

3. Product approval and moderation

Products are submitted for review and are only visible to shoppers once approved. A product may be approved, rejected, or returned with a request for changes; changes you make to a listing may require re-approval. Crafty Market may unpublish a listing that breaches these terms, the law, or our quality and accuracy standards.

4. Your responsibilities

  • Accurate product information — titles, descriptions, materials, dimensions and variants must be truthful and complete.
  • Images — you must own or be licensed to use every image you upload, and images must show the actual product.
  • Pricing — you set your own prices in Rand, inclusive of VAT where it applies to you, and are responsible for your own tax obligations.
  • Stock — keep stock levels current so shoppers are not sold items you cannot supply.
  • Fulfilment — pack and dispatch paid orders promptly and to a good standard.
  • Shipping — set and maintain your own delivery rates, provide realistic estimates and supply tracking where available.
  • Customer communication — respond to buyer and Crafty Market queries promptly and courteously.
  • Returns and refunds — handle returns for your products in line with our Returns & Refunds Policy and South African consumer law.
  • Legal compliance — comply with all applicable laws, including consumer protection, product safety, data protection and tax law.

5. Intellectual property

You keep ownership of your product content and brand. By listing on Crafty Market you grant us a non-exclusive licence to display and promote your shop, product images and product information on the site and in Crafty Market marketing. You must not list items that infringe another person's copyright, trade mark or design rights.

6. Prohibited products and conduct

You may not list:

  • counterfeit, replica or infringing goods
  • illegal, stolen or restricted items
  • unsafe products or products subject to a recall
  • mass-produced items misrepresented as handmade
  • items you cannot lawfully supply or deliver

You may not attempt to divert Crafty Market shoppers to complete a purchase off-platform, manipulate reviews or ratings, misrepresent your business, or access another seller's shop, products or orders.

7. Membership and commission

Crafty Market's configured seller terms are a Crafty Market Seller Membership of R399 per month and a 10% commission on the product subtotal of completed sales. Commission is calculated on the value of the products only — delivery charges are excluded from the commission calculation.

Membership billing is not yet activated. Where a seller has an individually agreed rate, exemption or free period recorded on their account, that recorded arrangement applies. Any change to fees or commission will be communicated to sellers in advance.

8. Orders, payment and payouts

Customers pay Crafty Market's checkout through PayFast. An order is only treated as paid once the payment is confirmed to us directly by PayFast — never on the strength of a browser message. Your net amount for a paid order is the product value less commission, plus your delivery charge, subject to any refunds, adjustments and membership fees recorded against your account. Payouts are made against the period statement on your seller dashboard.

9. Refunds and disputes

Where a return or refund is due on your products, it is your responsibility to resolve it. Crafty Market records the order and payment, facilitates communication with the customer, and may process or adjust a refund where that is necessary to meet our obligations to the customer under South African law.

10. Seller data and privacy

You receive the customer information needed to fulfil an order. You may use it only for that purpose and for related customer service, must keep it secure, and must not add customers to marketing lists or share their details with anyone else. You are responsible for your own compliance with POPIA in respect of information you receive. Our handling of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy.

11. Relationship between us

You are an independent business. These terms do not create employment, agency, partnership or joint venture between you and Crafty Market. The contract of sale for your products is between you and the customer.

12. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you indemnify Crafty Market against claims, losses and costs arising from your products, your listings, your delivery arrangements, your breach of these terms, or your breach of any applicable law.

13. Suspension and termination

Crafty Market may suspend or remove a shop, a listing or a seller account where these terms or the law are breached, where products or service fall short of our standards, where orders are repeatedly unfulfilled, or where a membership arrangement lapses. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will raise the issue with you first.

You may close your shop at any time by contacting us, provided you first fulfil or refund all outstanding paid orders. Amounts properly owing to you for completed sales remain payable.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the marketplace develops and will notify sellers of material changes. Continuing to sell after a change means you accept the updated terms. These terms apply together with our Terms & Conditions, Returns & Refunds Policy and Shipping Policy, and are governed by South African law.
